The RFI Noise Filter helps prevent damage during jump starts or current surges. It eliminates radio noise by installing the noise filter on the power supply wires from the ignition. Recommended for use on aftermarket igniton sytems like the MSD 7 and 8 series ignitions, but will also work with other aftermarket ignition systems as well. Whether you experience radio noise after installing the MSD Ignition or not, you should install an capacitor type Noise Filter. Electro magnetic interference (EMI) is often generated from the power leads on your ignition system. This unwanted interference can be easily eliminated by installing an Capacitor/Noise Filter on the heavy power supply wire coming from the ignition unit. When the ignition box draws current, it will draw through the Capacitor instead of directly from the battery, so all other accessories that operate off 12 volts, like the radio, fuel pump, engine computer, etc. will not be affected by the ignition system. The Noise filter will also prevent damage to the ignition system during jump-starts and will keep a vehicle's 12 volt line clean by removing any voltage spikes or current surges that could interfere with the operation of some ignition accessories such as a Soft touch Rev Control or a Two Step Module Selector. It is highly recommended that the a Capacitor/Noise Filter be used on all installations with the MSD 7 and 8 Series Ignition to prevent this interference.
