These locks are designed to be used with retainers and valves with a short tip.  Be sure that the locks that you purchase are correct for your retainer design.  Please review the specs below to make sure these are a proper match for your valves and retainers. We sell valve locks in sets of eight because many modern race engines use a combinations of valve stem sizes and some engine builders use different install heights on exhaust and intake valves. Therefore, you are purchasing 16 pieces or 8 pair. This will allow you to select the optimum locks for your engine application.
