These 12V DC have 18 forward facing LED bulbs and 6 side firing LEDs for a full and billiant illumination of most taillamp housings. The combination of forward and side firing LEDs provides bright light in over 270 degrees providing a significant improvement over LED bulbs with only forward facing bulbs. These bulbs can be used for a variety of lighting purposes and are ideal for applications requiring a wide lighting angle such as applications using a lamp housing that directs the light toward the lens, such as taillamp housings. For best results the LED color should be the same as the lens color. The LEDs in these bulbs appear clear when the bulb is not lit and BRIGHT RED when current is applied.

Please note that these are 1157 bulbs they will only operate in applications requiring two contacts on the base of the bulb. These dual function bulbs will lite all the bulbs at half brightness when current is applied to one contact and will reach full brightness when both contacts are provided current. These bulbs are commonly used in dual function locations like taillamp or marker lamps where the lights operate as running lamps and function as brake lamps when the brakes are applied as well as functioning as turn signals.

NOTE: When replacing incandescent 1157 bulbs with Led bulbs updating your flasher relay may be required. Older vehicles use a thermal type flasher that cycles (flashes) when it heats up based on current from the turn signal circuit. Led bulbs use less than 1/10 of the power of a conventional incandescent bulb so they do not create enough heat to properly activate the thermal flasher. When installing an LED bulb with the older thermal type flasher relay it will blink fast because it thinks that a bulb is blown. Replacing the thermal style flasher with an Electronic Flasher will stop the turn signals from hyper flashing (flashing really fast) and fix this problem.
